White Water Rafting

Cagayan de Oro or CDO is not just known as "The City of Golden Friendship” or “The City of Gold”, but it also known as the place where people can do this white water rafting. Rafting or white water rafting is a challenging recreational activity using an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done on whitewater or different degrees of rough water in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers. This recreational activity is not that old here in the city, in fact, when we tried this rafting way back 4 years ago, it was not that known yet as this time. Due to a big success of this kind of adventure, many tourist people like to try these sports for fun, until this recreational activity became that known here in the city and even in some other places. The Department of tourism promotes this activity and that many tourist people will love to visit the place.

Water rafting was fun, in fact my bro in law and my hubby enjoyed it much, but I didn’t haaa I’m afraid because I can’t swim, but I enjoy watching the wonderful view especially when we enter the big cave. Indeed, the experience was great, and for me, it’s my pleasure to try it once and that will be my last. I cherish the time and the moment that we tried this adventure activity.

I visited already some zoos in Netherlands, but there's one thing that I miss to watch in the zoo and that is the Tarsier. In the Philippines, you can view this unique primate called tarsier in Bohol. Before I saw this tarsier in real, I never expect that it's really that small because in the photo and some postcards, you don't notice how small it is. But watching it in real, you will be amazed in this primate, with their big round eyes that look like a marble that stick to their face. It has uniquely large eyes which are disproportionate to its head and body. These huge eyes provide this nocturnal animal with excellent night vision. There eyeball is approximately 16 mm in diameter and is as large as their entire brain.

The Philippine Tarsier is a tiny animal, measuring about 85 to 160 millimeters (3.35 to 6.30 inches) in height makes this one of the smallest primates. The Tarsier's eyes are fixed in its skull; they cannot turn in their sockets. Instead, a special adaptation in the neck allows its round head to be rotated 180 degrees. Just imagine how they can rotate their head, wow!!! 180 degrees, I tried to rotate my head here too, but I can’t reach that far (LOL).

Anyway, during our visit there, I was so eager to see that tarsier, I make sure that before we went back home, I got the chance to visit this tarsier, then I have an idea already how it looks in real and I’m so happy that we drop by there. So of course we took some pictures as our souvenir.

Chocolate hills and Sagbayan Peak

Chocolate Hills View

One of the famous tourist attractions here in the Philippines is the Chocolate Hills that is located in Bohol. Bohol is an island province of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas region, consisting of Bohol Island and 75 minor surrounding islands. Its capital is Tagbilaran City. The Chocolate Hills became well-known because of its unusual geological formation. It's unique and very wonderful to see, no wonder why there are many people loved to see these Chocolate hills. I visited Bohol for three times already and still, I enjoy the place so much. When I first saw these Chocolate hills in real, I was really amazed, it's very beautiful. I can't stop keep praising it because it's totally different from the pictures that I saw before or in some postcards. Watching in real was so amazing even though it's too hot that time, but it's worthy for the time that me and my family spend there. My husband likes it so much because he also found it unique, something rare.

Sagbayan Peak View

The other view of Chocolate hills will be seen also in Sagbayan peak. It's a place where you can watch the overlooking cone shape-mountains. Aside in hills viewing, children can enjoy also the playground in the overlooking scenic valley, with those nice statues of some well-known cartoon characters like Snow White, Duffy duck etc., then, for sure all the kids will love to stay there.

Bantayan Island

After my foreign tour, I move now to my own country tour, which is the Philippines, but it doesn't mean that my foreign tour has ended, I still have so many things to post, but I decide now to post some nice tourist spots that I visit here in my own country.

Cebu is one of the biggest cities in the Philippines and one of the main destinations for tourist people. This city is not just big, but it's also abundant of nice tourist spots. One tourist spots that kuya J (bro. in law), hubby and I visited before was the Bantayan Island. Bantayan Island is an island in the Philippines, located at the western portion of the northern tip of Cebu Island. It is politically a part of the Province of Cebu. The island can be reached by ferry from Hagnaya Wharf in San Remigio, Cebu, or from Cebu City, or from Cadiz City in Negros Occidental. It is about 80 miles away from Cebu City. The town is composed of three municipalities such as Bantayan, Madridejos and Santa Fe. This island is considered as Cebu’s fishing ground where shiploads and boatloads of fish are transported daily to Cebu City and Negros. Tons of guinamos (salted fish) and buwad (dried fish) are delivered to Cebu City and Cadiz, Negros for further distribution to as far as Mindanao and Manila. Equally important is the thriving poultry industry with hundreds of thousands of chicken eggs produced daily.

We went there a few years ago and I love the place because of its scenic view, white sand beach and very quiet. In fact, there were some resorts to stay there with some restaurant to hang out. Our whole day visit there was enough because we did only a quick tour, it could be nice if we stay there for one night, but it was not in our plan that time. Maybe if time comes that we visit there again, we make sure that we can stay there for few days, then, I can enjoy much the place and can watch the sunset, could be nice to see it there for sure. If ever you plan to relax and just enjoy the pleasant view of the beach, then this could be a perfect place for you to stay with.

Madame Tussauds

Me ( Elizabeth Swann ), Johnny Depp ( Jack Sparrow ) and my husband ( Will Turner )

Have you ever heard this Madame Tussauds? Madame Tussauds is a wax museum that was started in London with branches in a number of major cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Hollywood, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, New York, Shanghai and Washington DC. Madame Tussauds was set up by a wax sculptor Marie Tussaud, a French artist.

Since Amsterdam is not that far from the city where we live, which is The Hague. Hubby and I decided to visit the capital of Netherlands, The Amsterdam. It’s a crowded city because it’s one of the cities where many tourist people who come and visit. There were many nice tourist spots that you can visit in the Amsterdam and one thing that we visit there was the Madame Tussauds. I heard so much about the place but never have I visited it in real, so therefore that was my very first time to see the art sculpture of a well known French artist, Marie Tussauds. One word that came out in my mouth when I’m inside the museum, it’s amazing. It really looks real, from the top to button, you can see how wonderful it is, and it’s perfectly created so neatly. I saw many well known celebrities such as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Oprah, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez and many more. It’s not just famous Hollywood celebrities that I saw but also famous Dutch celebrities and of course Queen Beatrix, the queen of Holland was there too, together with Prince Willem Alexander and Princess Maxima, the son and daughter-in-law of the Queen. Other well known people were there too such as Dalai Lama, the head of state and the spiritual leader of Tibet.

After all the pictorials inside the museum, I feel that I became famous in one day because I got many pictures of many celebrities (LOL). I can foul my family and friends that I see all those celebrities. Well, I said to them that hubby and I got a VIP ticket to get in and take pictures together with all those celebrities and well-known people haaa..

H.H. Nicolaas en Barbara Church

Another old church that I visit in Valkenburg called the H.H. Nicolas en Barbara church. It's my very first time to enter in this church because it's far from the city where we live; this old church is located at Valkenburg, a village in the province of South Holland. I just grab this opportunity to visit this church because we visit in Valkenburg. As I enter in this church, I can see already how lovely it is. Watching it from the entrance of the church, I can see the nice architectural design and very creative artworks in the ceiling. I walked around to explore the place, really nice to see in every angle. And guess what, the artworks in the ceiling, they make that by hand. Wow, I was totally impressed; for sure it's a lot of work, but then again, its worthy for their effort because the final result was very beautiful.

The H.H. Nicolaas en Barbara is Valkenburg's oldest church. Of the original 14th-century church very little remains today. Only the tower and part of the nave are really old. In 1833 the nave had been extended while a new choir was added in 1836. P.J.H. Cuypers drastically extended the building in 1904. At the front a new porch with chapels on both sides was added. A three-aisled trave was built at the back of the transept and behind that a new choir.

The Hague

The Hague or also known as Den Haag in Dutch word, is the third largest city in the Netherlands after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. It’s the city where my husband live and a city where I like to live too in the near future. I’m so glad that the place where my husbad live is very close in the city center, close to the embassies and of course the government building as well. The advantage that we live close to known buildings is that, not much hassle for us when we need to visit it because we can walk it only, but the disadvantage is, it’s too crowded if you compare in the province or other small cities. But I like it a lot to live in The Hague especially that it’s very close to the shopping malls (LOL), it doesn’t mean that I need to shop everyday but it’s just so nice to live it so close to it, if ever I get bored at home or tired, then window shopping is one way to make myself happy again. Even in the Philippines, I also live in the city, which is very close also to the big shopping malls. I tried to stay at the province in the Philippines for just 1 month and 1 week in the province in the Netherlands. I feel it’s different, especially the lifestyle that I’m used to it. Therefore, I prefer to live in the city and if I can choose to it, then I prefer to live in The Hague. The Hague has also some tourist spots and museums that I can visit, so living in this city could never make me bored (LOL).

The Government Building

The Hague is the seat of government, but not the capital of the Netherlands. It is the home of the States-General of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands lives and works in The Hague. All foreign embassies and government ministries are located in the city, as well as the Hoge Raad der Nederlanden (Supreme Court), the Raad van State (Council of State) and many lobbying organisations.

On the way to Germany

This picture was taken when I was still in Netherlands, while hubby and I were driving on the way to Germany. The car in the picture was the car where my father-in-law drove together with the family. Driving to Germany wasn’t that far because we started at the Limburg, south part of Netherlands. We were going to city of Monchengladbach, Germany. While hubby was driving, I’m also making myself busy by taking some pictures on the highway that we passed by, watching some nice view. If I don’t make myself busy then all the way to Germany I just took a nap, which I often did when we travel.

Window Shopping In Monchengladbach, Germany

Germany is one of the neighborhood countries of Netherlands. Since we have our family vacation at Limburg, at the south part of Netherlands, it's already few hours drive to travel by car to reach in Germany. So last time, we visit this neighborhood country to explore the place, we visit the city of Monchengladbach. It's already my second time to be there at Germany, only the first time I have been at the city of Oberhausen (but I post that some other time).

It was me and the family who went to Monchengladbach. My mother-in-law heard so much about the place, so we decided to be there, but we never expect that not much to see there, but only a big shopping mall they have. Our purposes to be there was to visit some museums or some nice spots, but were a bit disappointed because not much to see, but I enjoyed walking in the big shopping mall they have. In short we did window shopping there, many stores that were close to each other in the big area. Aside from that, I also enjoy watching those old buildings that they have, so nice to see that until now, they still used it. After walking, we stop at the café to get some drinks and of course I want some french fries to fill in my empty stomach.

Dutch National Automobile Museum

Everyone has it's own interests, own likes and dislikes, just like me and my husband. I like collecting miniature shoes from just the right shoe collection, while hubby likes collecting some miniature old cars. He started to collect some miniature old cars when he was still a kid and until now, all those cars that he collects are still visible in our room. He is not just collecting an old car from a few years ago, but old cars from 1920 to 1940, obviously it shows how he loves to see some old cars in real. So luckily they have this old car museum where he can see a real car from his collection.

A Few years ago, we visit this old car museum called Nationaal Automobiel Museum. It illustrates the development of the automobile from its beginnings to 1971. The collection ranges from steam cars to electric cars, sports cars and prestigious limousines. I see some strange cars that I never saw in my whole life. I explore the place together with the family and took some pictures too. I can see the face of my hubby how he enjoyed watching those cars that he likes. I was amazed that he even can explain about the cars, where it came from and what's the purpose for it haaa, honestly, I'm so clueless at all.

I heard from my hubby that the old car museum that we visited before will be moving to the other city and guess in which city they will move, in The Hague, the city where we live. So if hubby wants to visit it every day, then that's okay already haaa just few minutes drive because before it was a bit far from home.

Keukenhof in Netherlands

Netherlands is abundant of different kinds of flowers, but they are more known with the tulips flower. My husband knows that I like tulips, so he brought me last year at the Keukenhof park, it's a park where you can see thousands of flower bulbs that grow and not just that, you can also see a variety of flowers, but the very common flowers that was known in the Philippines was the roses. I love this park not just because of the flowers, but the art on how they design this park. Keukenhof is open annually from the last week in March to mid-May. Sad to say that I never got a chance to visit this year because I arrived in Netherlands by June, so I'm too late to be there and see the amazing flowers that they have this year.

In Philippines, it's very rare to have those tulips flower, but if ever you want to have it for some special occasions, then you can have it. Like during my wedding day, I adore these tulips flower and I want that my bouquet had few pieces of those. So luckily my wedding planner did a great job, she makes a very nice bouquet for me with two kinds of flowers on it, both flowers were rare in the Philippines, but the one I like most was the tulips.

Keukenhof is known as the Garden of Europe and consider as the world's largest flower garden. It is situated between Amsterdam and The Hague in the Bulb region.

Safari Park Beeksebergen

A safari park is a zoo-like commercial tourist attraction where visitors can drive in their own vehicles and observe the wildlife, rather than viewing animals in cages or small enclosures.

Mostly when we heard the word Zoo, the first thing that came to our mind is the place where you can see a variety of animals that you can watch either in close view or in a distance view. I visited already some zoo's in Netherlands and I'm look forward to visit the other zoo that I never visit before. But one of the zoo that I enjoyed much is the Safari zoo, probably you wonder why I enjoyed this much compare to the previous zoo's that I visited before. This Safari zoo was unique because you are not just walking and watching those animals, you can take also the Safari boat tour that will guide you to the area where you can see some animals. Aside from that, they also have the Safari Bus, taking a ride in a bus with a tour guide who will guide and explain about the animals that you pass by. I enjoy this Safari bus because it drove in the middle of the zoo where you can see some animals that were free to walk and pass in the road.

When the family and I took this safari bus, I was very excited because I can't wait to see those animals walking in the road and standing next to bus. It's so nice to see that while your sitting inside the bus then you also enjoy staring the Giraffe walking next to it, licking the roof of the bus. Since we enjoyed it so much, we decide to drive in the road again, but this time it's not by bus but in our car. It was raining that time, so hubby drove it slowly to enjoy the view. We see different kinds of animals, but were more excited for the Giraffe to lick our car haaa. But bad timing because when we passed by, its feeding time, so all the Giraffe walked to the area where the food was located. My husband was a bit disappointed because the giraffe didn't lick his car haaa. Well I enjoy our safari tour, indeed, I took only few pictures, about 300 plus on that day.
