Zuider Park in Den Haag

It was few days ago that the family and I went to the Zuider Park. Zuiderpark is a park in the Dutch city of The Hague/The Netherlands. In this park, there is a midget golf that you can play with. This was the second time that I play midget golf. Since my father-in-law was not there on the first time we played the midget golf, so we went back there again to play it together with him. It was fun even though the place was a bit crowded but still we enjoyed the time we spend.

After playing the golf, we took a walked in the park. Oh.. it’s a huge park and very solemn, with some cold fresh air, very nice to have a picnic there. I asked my hubby that we go back there some other time and have our picnic. It’s very romantic for lovers or a couple to spend time there because aside for having a nice fresh air, the view is awesome. With many greens trees, different kinds of flowers, botanical gardens and many more. For sure everyone will love to spend a nice time together with family also. This park was used to have a Zuiderpark stadium.

The Zuiderpark offers promenade walks, sunbathing areas and ponds, sports fields, athletics tracks, school and children’s gardens, botanical gardens, a deer park, a children’s farm and a rose garden.

Canal Tour in Dordrecht

Dordrecht is a city and municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland, the Netherlands, and the fourth largest city of the province. The municipality covers the entire Dordrecht Island, also often called the Island of Dordt, bordered by the rivers Oude Maas, Beneden Merwede, Nieuwe Merwede, Hollands Diep, and Dordtsche Kil. Dordrecht is the largest and most important city in the Drechtsteden and is also part of the Randstad, the main conurbation in the Netherlands. Dordrecht is the oldest city in Holland and has a rich history and culture.

When we went in Dordrecht, it took us about 1 hour to travel to reach the city. It’s not my first time visiting the place but already the second time, only the first time I was there it was winter time, so we did not explore much the place because it was cold that time. Now that were there in this summer time, we explore the place as well as the city center. One thing we did there was taking a canal tour. It was a nice experience to travel with a small boat and someone will guide or explain to you about the historical event that happen in the past. Watching those old buildings that were built for about 1500 years. The boat travel in the canals and it reach in a big river, so wonderful to see many boats, ships that park. It’s a nice day that time, not so warm and not so cold, so many people take a boat ride and explore the place.

Avifauna Bird Park

Aside in some museums and zoo’s that I visited before, my husband brought me to another tourist destination, the Avifauna bird park. Avifauna claims to be the oldest bird park in existence and certainly is the oldest and biggest in the Netherlands. Avifauna Vogelpark (Bird Park) opened in 1950 and is part of the large Dutch Van der Valk tourism company, which has used a colorful toucan as its emblem ever since acquiring the bird park.

Avifauna has birds in cages and in free roaming areas. It has a huge variety of colorful toucans, parrots and hornbills. Many different kinds of birds that you can see in this park that they groups it according to their regions of origin. I’m glad to see the Philippine section where I can see rare rain forest birds that I seldom see when I’m in Philippines. It gives a nice feeling for me that I step on the Philippine area and trying to recognize the birds that originally came from my own country.

But one thing that I enjoyed much in this park is the area where you can feed the birds with honey. We went to that area and everyone had a honey in our hand, wow!! directly birds fly and stand on our hands. They were so eager to get the honey that we were holding on. At first I was surprise because I thought it stand on my head but luckily it’s just on my hand and arms. Well, it was fun and we all enjoyed the moment that we had there.

Westbroekpark and Scheveningen beach

Again, my laziness in writing has come, I did some nice day out with my hubby few days ago but I been busy playing some pc and psp games here, so I set aside my blog for the mean time. Well, it was last Friday that hubby and I did an unplanned day out. Supposedly we only went to Samsung repair shop to change the language of his new mobile but instead going home directly we decide to visit the nearest park, they called it Rosarium Westbroek Park. It’s a park that surrounded with different kinds of roses. Those roses will join the rose competition, in fact, it’s already the 49th International Rose Competition of The Hague and 'Festival des Roses' that will be held last Thursday, 9 July 2009 in Westbroekpark, where approximately 350 rose species will be competing for prizes. The competition was made by the peoples vote between June 24 to July 5. The competition categories are: floribunda roses, hybrid tea roses, park/shrub roses, patio roses and climbing roses. The rose with the highest amount of points will be crowned the ‘Golden Rose of The Hague’. I’m glad that we visit there after the competition or else I can’t easily take a pictures of those lovely roses.

After visiting the park, so sudden decision that came in our mind and that was going to the Scheveningen beach. We plan to drive only on the beach road, just to take a look the nice view of the beach, but then again, hubby and I decide to park the car close to the beach and take few min walked in the sand. We both found it romantic walking in the beach, enjoying the view and at the same time smelling the cold breeze from the sea because it was a bit windy that time. We enjoy watching some people playing some kites and other people who did a kite surfing. ( I post it some other time the kite surfing )

Paleis Het Loo : Summer time Visit

It was 3 years ago that I visited the Paleis Het Loo, (click to check the previous post) it was my first time to see the palace in real because before, I mostly saw that through the internet pictures. During my first visit, I was amazed already how beautiful it is both inside and outside the palace. But that time, it was winter time, so I never see how beautiful it is in the garden. Well, it was still nice to see the garden that time but it’s mostly covered with snow. Now that I’m here again in Netherlands in this summer time season, I grab this opportunity to visit the Palace Het Loo again. It was me together with my husband and parents in law who went to Palace het loo yesterday, the weather was not really nice, a bit chili with some raindrops but because of my eagerness to see the garden that filled with all green color, I never mind the rain that falls, I just enjoy the moment that I can walked in the very huge garden in the palace. I can’t imagine living in a palace with a very big garden, it’s very amazing on how they make some art in the garden. If you look in the pictures, you will be amazed already how creative they make in the garden, but watching it on real is awesome. As we went to the roof of the palace, it’s very overlooking in the garden. I was like “wow!!! am I dreaming that I see this kind of garden”. It's really very nice and I adore it so much, so lovely to see with green colors on it and some fountain.

Inside the palace was made of old antique stuff that was used by the Royal family, some big paintings from the ancestors of royal family up to the present, nice golden and silver chandeliers that hang almost every room, lovely paintings that you can see in the ceiling with unique style and art design and many more. They preserved it to maintain the beauty of the palace and that people can see it too. I can’t remember how many rooms does the palace have, I think it’s more than a hundred.

Efteling Theme Park

It was 2 weeks ago that hubby and I went to Efteling. This was our second time being there, the last time that we went there was 2 years ago. We considered this as our second adventure in Efteling, riding mostly all the rides they had. It was still fun to be there again and of course we look forward to visit there again and again because hubby and I like amusement parks. We both like to ride the roller coaster that run really fast or flip in the other side. It’s still a lot of excitement for us, even though we both feels dizzy after taking a ride with that fast roller coaster, still both of us ready to take another rides.

What makes it different this time from the last time was that, it’s more crowded this time. When we went there, it’s almost summer vacation, so it’s more crowded and long waiting line to take the ride. The last time we went there, still not summer vacation, not so crowded, indeed, we took the roller coaster rides 3 times in a row, without getting out in our sit, we just keep extending. Luckily, hubby and I went there early, it was 1 hour drive from home, we arrived there 15 minutes past 10 AM and the park open exactly 10 AM.

Canan tour in Delft

What a nice day we had today, my parents in law together with hubby and I went to Delft. Delft is a city and municipality in the province of South Holland (Zuid-Holland), the Netherlands. It is located in between Rotterdam and The Hague. Delft is primarily known for its typically Dutch town centre (with canals); painter and universities. The city center retains many old and historical buildings, and many streets have canals in the center, inhabited by fish and plants making this beautiful small city a tourist destination. Delft is well known for the Delft pottery ceramic products which were styled on the imported Chinese porcelain of the 17th century.

Inside the boat

Visiting in Delft would never be a regret for anyone, aside for having a wonderful city center, they have many tourist spots that everyone will love to visit with. We have a nice day out for today, since it’s Thursday, they have this market display that you can buy something for cheap and of course some food stands that you can see everywhere. One thing we did in Delft was taking this Canal tour, we ride this boat that travel from canals and of course with a tour guide that gave explanations for some old buildings that we passed by. The tour takes only about 45 minutes and it’s very educational. A person who don’t know anything about the Delft, then this is one way to explore and to learn about the place. The Canal tour was very educational and it’s a lot of fun as well.

They said that it’s very romantic if both lovers and couple spend time together at the beach. Well not necessarily that you need to swim or so but just going there to have fun for each other, enjoying the time together, smelling the fresh air that comes from the sea, walking in the sand together or having a nice picnic with all the snacks. Yes, I find it romantic too but not during winter time, too cold to stay there for long. Here’s one of the beach that I visited in Netherlands.

Scheveningen is a modern seaside resort with a long sandy beach, path, pier, and a lighthouse. It's one of the eight districts of The hague, Netherlands. A nudist section is 1 km to the north. The long sandy beach is also popular for watersports like windsurfing and kite boarding. The harbor is used both for fishing and tourism. Scheveningen beach has a lot of souvenir stores, coffee shops and restaurants.

Few days ago, the family and I went to Scheveningen. It’s one of the well known beaches here in Netherlands. The beach is very huge and I can’t imagine walking that for long, then for sure I start to complain that my feet start to hurt. We started walking from the harbor till to the normal beach, so it’s already a long walked for me but luckily we did not walked all the way to the last part of the beach. But one thing I enjoyed being there was the time that we walked in the sea shore, enjoying the water from the sea. We mostly did not do that because often times we walked in the boulevard and just enjoying the nice view and the fresh air from the sea. Hubby and I walked in the sea shore for long, it was nice, only I find it too hot walking in the beach but it doesn’t mean that’s the hindrance of our day out in that day. Only funny thing that happened, when hubby carried me directly that I did not notice, I was totally surprise and I accidentally hit my sunglass that I put in my head. It fell on the water and hubby keep searching it, took him about 15 minutes to get it back because it often blown by the wave.

Visiting the Maria van Jesse church

One of the most nicest church that I visit is the Maria van Jessekerk (Maria van Jesse church ) , it’s a neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church in Delft, Netherlands, built in the period 1875-188 and was originally dedicated to St. Joseph. The church is now dedicated to Mary of the Tree of Jesse, thus referring to Jesus as the branch at the stem of Jesse (Virga Jesse). The church was the first Catholic church back into the center of the city was established after the reformation.

This church is very wonderful, if you see it in the pictures, you can see already how nice it is, how unique structural design of it. When you see it in real, you will be amaze for it. I love to visit this church, aside its nice, the city itself where the church located is also nice. The family and I visit there sometimes.

The pipe organ in the church was located on top of the entrance. A pipe organ is a keyboard musical instrument that produces sound by venting mechanically compressed air (wind) through resonant pipes. As you can see in the picture, it’s not just a small organ but a big one, it’s an old organ but until now it function well and still they used it during the mass.

Blijdorp Zoo

My hubby informed me that the family in Netherlands are going to the Diergaarde Blijdorp Zoo. When I knew that they are going, I tried to close my eyes and trying to picture out how those zoo looks like. Great!! I can still remember how it looks like and still fresh in my mind the place.

Zoo is an abbreviation of zoological garden. It is a park area in which live animals are kept in cages or large enclosures for public exhibition. This is the place where you can see different animals, especially those animals from the wild then in the zoo you can easily see it.

It was last year and the other year that I visited the Diergaarde Blijdorp, a zoo that is located at the city of Rotterdam, Holland. It’s big and many animals that you can see. Visiting there may consume your whole day activity in walking and looking those animals. It was my second time that I visit there and still cannot remember all those animals haaa…. because not all those animals I can see here in Philippines. Some animals were unfamiliar to me and I only saw it there. Looks like mostly animals that I saw in the book way back the time that I am still a student, I only saw it there. It’s like wow; finally I saw a real one and not just a fake or a drawing.
